Netflix 3 Body Problem

New experential headset technology for the premiere of Netflix's 3 Body Problem

Overview

Imagined as a piece of technology from a speculative reality, the 3 Body Problem headset was designed to function credibly in the physical world. Conceived as a wearable object rather than a cinematic prop, the design prioritizes industrial precision and tactile interaction, allowing the fictional device to exist as plausible hardware. Debuted at CES, the sculptural form served as a direct entry point into the series’ narrative, shifting the audience from passive viewing to active participation. By translating speculative fiction into a high-performance physical object, the project collapses the distance between cinematic myth and tangible reality.

Experiential

The headset’s debut at CES disrupted the landscape of traditional consumer tech by transforming a piece of imaginative fiction into a visceral, high-stakes interactive experience. By allowing users to physically wear and engage with the device, we turned a narrative concept into the most talked-about event of the show.

We bridged the gap between cinematic imagination and high-performance engineering to produce a device that feels both alien and technically plausible.

The unique form immediately signals something unfamiliar yet purposeful. Carefully resolved surfaces, material choices, and finishes give the piece a sense of precision and credibility, allowing it to exist convincingly as functional hardware.

Visual and auditory perception are reconfigured to immerse the viewer in an unfamiliar, chaotic world. By carefully shaping sensory input through form, optics, and sound, the experience allows the narrative to be physically inhabited rather than simply observed.
